Who we are
We are 3 friends who have felt the call of the mountains all our lives. Our name is inspired by the “Three Brothers” rock formations along the north wall, just east of El Capitan. The “Three Brothers” were named after Chief Tenaya’s three sons. One day Ty, Wade and Shon were enjoying a beautiful day in the valley of Yosemite and the idea sprang up to start an outdoor adventure tour biz. Ty then looked up, pointed to the “Three Brothers” and the name was set!
We live in the mountain community at the southern entrance to Yosemite National Park. Excursions into Yosemite continue to inspire our hearts. Sharing this beautiful mountain region with others has become one of our greatest joys! Of all the beautiful places we have visited on the planet…Yosemite is in the top most spectacular places on earth! And we are truly blessed to live in the community that serves millions of visitors every year. Three Brothers Adventure Tours aims to serve our fellow travelers with kindness, respect, an adventurous spirit, with care and safety as top priorities.
Shon
Shon was born and raised mostly in CA. He spent most of adult life living and working in the Central Valley of CA. He has always loved the outdoors. As an infant his parents took him in a pack hiking up the mist trail to Vernal Falls. Thus began his love for Yosemite. He spent summers in his youth playing in the Merced River and camping in “House Keeping” camp with his Grandma and cousins. In his 20’s and 30’s one of his favorite things to do was take friends and family hiking to the top of Half Dome. As mid life settles in… Shon has returned to Yosemite with a full heart, deep appreciation for nature and the desire to share this magnificent natural wonder with guests who are experiencing it for their first time or seasoned returning enthusiasts! Shon is also a “Pathways of Light” Minister and a certified holistic life coach. In his free time you might catch him hanging with his dog Chloe, hoop dancing on the banks of the Merced River or laying in his hammock reading “A Course In Miracles.” The writings of John Muir really speak to him as John Muir just saw “God” everywhere he looked in Yosemite!
Wade
Wade was born and raised in North Fork, CA where he developed his love of the mountains. He grew up on a cattle ranch where his family worked hard to establish themselves. When he was of age he took off for San Francisco and then Los Angeles to chase his dreams of financial fortune where he worked in the entertainment industry and for a large fulfillment and logistics company. After getting burned out in the LA scene he moved to the big island of Hawaii to fulfill his passion for farming and the ocean. “If I can’t be in the mountains I need to be near the ocean”. After a few years in Hawaii the call of his heart brought him back to the mountains and he found his way
Tyler
Tyler was born and raised in Orcutt, CA. He received a B.S. in Natural Resources Planning and Interpretation with a Forestry Minor, from Humboldt State University. His love for Yosemite began when he was only 4 years old. His love for this part of the sierras blossomed during his internship with the Park Service in Yosemite. He moved to Oakhurst, CA in 2005, fulfilling his dream of living in the mountains near his beloved Yosemite. He has been a guide in the area for 8 years. Tyler’s passion for the outdoors shines thru on his tours as he shares his wealth of knowledge, experience and exuberance of Yosemite and the Sierras. When Tyler has free time you’ll find him swimming in the Merced River, hiking the falls, exploring the scenic byway in his FJ and hanging out with his dogs. Tyler is also an amazing professional photographer who has explored and photographed some the most beautiful locations throughout the desert Southwest.
